This Privacy Policy document explains our policies and procedures for collecting, using, and disclosing your information. It also governs the various access paths to the KnowPEDs service, including our website, www.knowpeds.com. All of the different forms of data, content, and information described in this document are collectively known as information.

Note: By using our service, you consent to the collection, transfer, processing, storage, disclosure, and other uses described in this policy.

1. Information That We Collect and Store

We may collect and store the following information when running the KnowPEDs service:

Information That You Provide. When you create an account, we collect personal information such as the following:

  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Credit card or other billing information
  • Email address
  • Home or business postal addresses

We also collect information from you when you register for an event, fill out a form, or join an organization through the KnowPEDs Service.

Sensitive Information. We may sometimes require the provision of sensitive information, which may include the following:

  • Social Security Number (SSN)
  • Employer Identification Number (EIN)
  • Credit card numbers
  • Bank account number
  • Other specific financial information associated with your account

For your security, we encrypt the transmission of sensitive information using secure socket layer (SSL) technology. 

Note: KnowPEDs, LLC, considers Social Security Numbers, bank account numbers, and credit card numbers to be sensitive information. By providing sensitive information to KnowPEDs, LLC, you release KnowPEDs,LLC, from any liability related to the security or use of such sensitive information by our financial institution.

Files. We may collect and store the files that you upload, download, or access when using the KnowPEDs service.

Log Data. We automatically record information about your activity. This may include:

  • Your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address
  • Browser type
  • The web page that you visited before you came to our website
  • Information that you search for on our website
  • Locale preferences
  • Identification numbers associated with your KnowPEDs account
  • Date and time stamps associated with transactions
  • System configuration information
  • Metadata concerning your files
  • Other interactions with the service

Cookies. We use cookies to collect information and improve our services. A cookie is a small data file that we transfer to your computer. Cookies help us to understand how you interact with the service. They also help us to monitor aggregate usage and web traffic routing on the service.

We may use two types of cookie:

  • A persistent cookie, which saves your registration ID and login password for future logins to the service.
  • A session ID cookie, which enables certain features of the service.

If you no longer want to receive communications from us, follow the unsubscribe instructions provided in any KnowPEDs email, or update your profile information.

Geolocation Information. The service may allow applications to access real-time, location-based information (for example, GPS). As of the date on which this policy went into effect, KnowPEDs does collect such information. We may also do so in the future to improve our services or to optimize your experience.

Note: Some of the information we collect from your computer or other online device, such as your IP address, can sometimes be used to approximate that device’s location.

Analytics. We or third party services may also collect some information using logging and cookies, which can sometimes be correlated with personal information. We use this information for the purposes stated in this document, as well as to monitor and analyze use of the service, administer the service, increase service functionality and user-friendliness, and verify that users have the authorization needed for the service to process their requests.

3. Information Sharing and Disclosure

Service Providers, Business Partners and Others. We may use certain trusted third party companies and individuals to help us provide, analyze, and improve the service —including, but not limited to, data storage, maintenance services, database management, web analytics, payment processing, and improvement of the service’s features. These third parties may have access to your information only for purposes of performing these tasks on our behalf and under obligations similar to those in this Privacy Policy.

Compliance with Laws and Law Enforcement Requests and Protection of KnowPEDs’ Rights.

We may disclose the following to parties outside of KnowPEDs:

  • Files stored in KnowPEDs
  • Information about you that we collect when we have a good faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to:
  • Comply with a law, regulation or compulsory legal request
  • Protect the safety of any person from death or serious bodily injury
  • Prevent fraud or abuse of KnowPEDs or its users
  • Protect KnowPEDs’ property rights
  • Avoid the infringement of the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of third parties.

Note: If we provide your KnowPEDs files to a law enforcement agency as set forth above, we will remove KnowPEDs encryption from the files before providing them to law enforcement. However, we will not be able to decrypt any files that you encrypted prior to storing them on KnowPEDs.

Business Transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you, via email and/or in a prominent notice on our website, of:

  • Any changes in control or use of your personal information or files
  • Your personal information or files become subject to a different privacy policy
  • Choices that you may have regarding the information.

Non-private or Non-personal Information. We may disclose your non-private, aggregated, or otherwise non-personal information, such as usage statistics of our service.

Third-Party Sites. Occasionally, at our discretion, we may include or offer third party products or services on our website. These third party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. We therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site, and we welcome any feedback about these sites.

4. Changing or Deleting Your Information

If you are a registered user, you may review, update, correct, or delete the personal information provided in your registration or account profile by changing your account settings. If your personally identifiable information changes, or if you no longer desire to use our service, you can update or delete it by making the change in your account settings. In some cases, we may retain copies of your information if required by law.

We will retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you want to cancel your account or request that we no longer use your information to provide you services, you can delete your account.

We may retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Consistent with these requirements, we will try to delete your information quickly upon request.

Note: There might be latency in deleting information from our servers, so backed-up versions may continue to exist after deletion. In addition, we do not delete from our servers files that you have in common with other users.

The security of your information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information such as a credit card number on our order forms, we encrypt the transmission of that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL).

We follow generally accepted standards to protect the information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, however. Therefore, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. 8. Our Policy Toward Children

Our service is not designed for people under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information (PII) from children under 13. If parents or guardians become aware that their child has provided us with PII without consent, they should contact us at support@knowpeds.com. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with PII, we will take steps to delete such information from our files.
